Cold case season 7 starts when the team re investigates a case assumed to be suicide, which involves the disappearance of a young woman aboard an ocean liner in 1966. The murder case of a Jazz musician who kept his hard partying lifestyle a secret to his religiously devout father was reinvestigated in episode 4.

Episode 6 is all about a disc jockey who has gone missing since 1986 and whose remains were uncovered in an old horse grave. Episode 8 was the reopening of the case of a Chinese American teenager, whose murder may have been connected to the killing of his girlfriend by Chinese gang members. Episode 10 is the case of a hockey player who was murdered on his team’s rink on the same night the U.S. team defeated the Soviet Union team.

The team reopens the case of a young circus performer on episode 14, when she has been found out to have died even before the accident that reportedly killed her. The upcoming marriage of the team’s colleague to a woman who has been suspected of killing her previous fiancé in Episode 15 prompted the team to reopen the case to make sure that their colleague isn’t about t marry a murderer.

Season ends in an episode when Jeffries tries to fulfill a promise to a murdered girl’s parents that he will try to find the killer.
